A program to help nonprofit board members better understand demographics while also developing stronger leadership skills will be held in Watertown Tuesday Oct. 24.

"It's a Jungle Out There," sponsored by the United Way of NNY, will feature presentations by Jeremy Zogby, a partner of John Zogby Strategies, and Laura Colin Klein, executive director of charitySTRONG.

The breakfast event begins at 7:30 a.m. and will be finished by 10:30 am. Cost is $10 and RSVP's can be made by contacting Kristen Semento at 315-788-5631 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Zogby's "Tribal Analytics" uses 30 years of surveying data from Zogby Strategies to break down the 11 "tribes" of consumers who have used social media to create demographic groups that defy age, gender and race. Klein will then show how chairtySTRONG has created web tools to help nonprofit boards become better overseers of nonprofits, which are under increasing pressures to remain fiscally strong and relevant.

"One of the biggest challenges for nonprofit boards is to find and develop new board members," said Bob Gorman, CEO of the United Way of NNY. "Current nonprofit board leaders and people interested in learning more about what a board's responsibilities are should take advantage of this event."
