Clarkson University in Potsdam will kick off its annual United Way of NNY campaign with a mixer for faculty, staff and administration on Feb. 7 at the Snell Atrium from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

“We are extremely happy to see Clarkson create a great event that allows us to further the campus’s connection to many of our nonprofit partners,” said Bob Gorman, CEO of the United Way. “We will have at least seven St. Lawrence County nonprofit partners at the event to show how payroll deduction to the United Way helps all of them.”

Refreshments and craft beer will be provided at the event. The actual campaign will be held Feb. 12-24.

Overseeing the campaign this year are:

  • Suong Ives, Chief Inclusion & Human Resources Officer
  • Marjorie Meashaw, administrative assistant for athletics
  • Loren Nowak, director of the Office of AccessABILITY Services, and
  • faculty members Ali Boolani and Stephen Bird

The United Way of NNY is awarding $83,000 in grants to St. Lawrence County human service nonprofits in 2018. The two top county campaigns so far for the next round of grants are Corning Inc. in Canton at $24,740 and St. Lawrence University at $23,880.58.
